About Fiona

Fiona Clark is an experienced singing teacher specialising in developing healthy, expressive young voices from Early Years through to adulthood. She has taught across a wide range of leading independent schools, preparing pupils for performances and graded exams while nurturing confidence, musical independence and a lifelong love of singing. Central to Fiona’s teaching is the belief that everyone’s voice is beautiful and worth developing. Her work is underpinned by Estill training (Levels 1 and 2), supporting healthy, age‑appropriate vocal development.

Alongside her individual teaching, Fiona is an accomplished choral director. She has led choirs from KS1 to KS3, directed major school services and productions, and supported ensemble singing in both prep and senior settings. Fiona also brings extensive classroom experience, having taught music from EYFS to KS3. Her approach blends practical musicianship, creativity and vocal expertise to support whole‑class musical learning. Fiona has emerging research interests in pitch accuracy in young singers and how everyday listening — from family singing to ambient sound — influences early vocal development.

Before focusing primarily on education, Fiona enjoyed a successful freelance career as a mezzo‑soprano, performing with companies such as Opera Holland Park and Opera North, and singing with ensembles including the Gabrieli Consort and Polyphony. She holds an MA in Vocal Studies (Distinction), an Advanced Diploma in Opera from the Royal Academy of Music, and a BA in Music from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.
